The Sisterhood

October 6, 2017

 The Sisterhood by Helen Bryan

Adopted as a child after a natural disaster, Menina wears a pendant around her neck that she's had as long as she can remember that features a swallow. As she begins researching her thesis, she uncovers the story of five Catholic girls saved from the Inquisition in Spain by being shipped off to a convent in the New World- South America, to the very place Menina was adopted from. The same swan image featured on her pendant begins to appear throughout her research. As Menina travels to the the convent in South America, she finds an amazing story full of mysticism, bravery, and the love that can bind women's hearts to each other forever, and that can even reach down through generations. A beautiful, engaging, suspenseful book.
