The Shadow of the Wind

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

Set in Barcelona in 1945, as Spain is recovering from WWII and its own Civil War, a book dealer's son, Daniel, reads one of his father's antiquarian books called The Shadow of the Wind. He is in love with the book, and yearns to know more about its history. As he begins investigating, he finds that someone has gone before him, finding and destroying every copy of the book. The mystery deepens, real danger grows as Daniel continues to investigate, and once again hope and true love conquer all. This book is beautifully written, each page, each paragraph a delight to read- you don't want it to end. An engrossing story that is an absolute delight for those who appreciate a truly well-written, well-crafted book.
